Offling Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Offling is an idle game for Android in which your flock grows while your phone is put down. It is developed and published by FrostWeb Studios, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a Florida limited liability company. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who receives it, and your choices. It supplements the FrostWeb Studios Privacy Policy; where they differ for Offling, this policy applies.

Offling does not use FrostWeb accounts. Signing in with Google is optional; without it, your game stays only on your phone. Offling has no ads and no purchases.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Screen-Off Time (Usage Access)

If you turn on screen-off tracking, Offling asks for Android’s Usage Access permission and uses it only to read when your screen was switched on and off between leaving the app and coming back. It does not read which apps you used or any other activity. These events never leave your phone: the app adds them up into one record per absence (when it was, how long you were away, and how much of that time the screen was off) and turns that into progress in the game. Those absence records are part of your save.

2.2 Google Sign-In (Optional)

If you sign in, Google confirms your account and our sign-in provider (Firebase Authentication) keeps a user ID with the name and email address of your Google account. The app shows your email address in Settings. We never see your Google password.

2.3 Your Cloud Save

When you are signed in, your save is stored in Cloud Firestore under your user ID: your flock (including any names you give your creatures), berries, trinkets, journal, den, trough, your recent absences, and a random ID for the phone that is currently playing, so that two phones do not overwrite each other.

2.4 Gameplay Analytics

The app sends a few Firebase Analytics events: filling the trough (with the number of berries), an award on your return (and whether it included a trinket), an egg hatching (the species), a scene bought (the theme), and opening the den. No times or absence figures are attached to them. Firebase Analytics adds its own automatic information, such as an app instance ID, device model, operating system, app version, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Offling does not collect your advertising ID.

2.5 Crash Reports and App Integrity

If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics receives a report with the stack trace, device model, operating system, and app version. The app also uses Firebase App Check with Google Play Integrity so that Google can confirm requests come from a genuine copy of the app.

2.6 Feedback

The feedback option opens your email app with a message to [email protected], pre-filled with the app version, Android version, device model, and, if you are signed in, your email address. We receive only what you choose to send.

2.7 Stored Only on Your Phone

The app keeps your save, sync markers, a random ID for your phone, and your settings (such as the away summary and journal preferences) on your phone. Offling does not take part in Android’s automatic backup.

2.8 What Offling Does Not Collect

No location, contacts, photos, messages, health or payment data, no information about other apps, and no advertising ID.

3. How We Use Information

• To run the game: count your time away and grow your flock.
• To keep your save in the cloud and move it between phones when you sign in.
• To improve the game and fix problems, using analytics and crash reports.
• To protect our servers from modified apps.

For people in the EEA and UK, our legal bases are contract (running the game and your cloud save) and legitimate interests (analytics, crash reports, and app integrity). We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

4. Who Receives Your Data

Google provides Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and App Check as our service providers, and may process this data in the United States and other countries. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of FrostWeb, our players, or the public, or as part of a merger or sale of our business. Nobody else receives your data.

5. App Permissions

• Usage Access: only to read screen on and off events, as described in section 2.1. The app explains this before sending you to the system setting, and it works without the permission (though nothing grows).
• Internet and network state: sign-in, cloud save, analytics, and crash reports.

6. Data Retention

• Cloud save: kept while you have an account. When you delete your account, the save is cut off from any sign-in and flagged as deleted, so nothing can read or change it, but the flagged copy stays on file until we clear it by hand. Ask us and we will erase it (see section 7).
• Crash reports: deleted by Crashlytics after 90 days.
• Analytics: kept by Google under our Firebase project’s retention settings.
• Data on your phone: until you delete your account in the app or uninstall it.

7. Your Choices and Rights

• Delete your account: in the app, open Settings and tap Delete account, or follow the account deletion page. To have the flagged cloud save erased at once, email [email protected] from your sign-in address.
• Turn off screen-off tracking by removing Usage Access for Offling in your phone’s settings.
• Play without an account by not signing in.
• Access or a copy of your data: email [email protected] from your sign-in address.

You may have further rights where you live, including the EU, UK, and US state rights described in the FrostWeb Studios Privacy Policy, and the right to complain to a data protection authority. We respond within 30 days.

8. Data Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS, and Firestore security rules allow only your own sign-in to read your cloud save. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Offling is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has signed in to Offling, email [email protected] and we will delete the data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We post changes on this page with a new effective date. If a change is material, for example a new kind of data or a new recipient, we will announce it in the app before it takes effect.
